The Ceremony Process

As none of us are much practised in booking a celebrant, no matter the occasion, the process may be a tad unfamiliar. Here is the basic format I would follow and which, I believe many other celebrants would also work by:

The first thing to do is check if I'm available on the preferred date; send an enquiry, call or email to give the basic details of the ceremony required, date and venue if known. Once the date is secured, sometimes with a booking fee*, a date will be set for an initial meeting. This is sometimes the only one needed, but for a wedding or vow renewal, there may be further meetings later at the venue etc.
 

It can be helpful to have as much information as possible ready to share about the people at the heart of your ceremony. Whether we're exploring a couple's love story, celebrating and honouring a life well lived, welcoming a new arrival, marking a fresh chapter, or creating a meaningful blessing, every little detail helps bring your story to life.

During our meeting, I'll gently guide the conversation with thoughtful questions, taking notes along the way (or recording it, so I don't miss anything), so I can capture the moments, memories and personal touches that make your story unique. These conversations are always relaxed and enjoyable, and they often spark wonderful memories that might otherwise have been forgotten. The more I learn about you and your journey, the more beautifully I can weave those details into a ceremony that feels truly authentic, heartfelt and unmistakably yours.

I will then use all the information I have gathered from you to create the ceremony draft, which will be sent to you, usually via email, so you can read it, make notes for any amendments, then respond so any changes can be made.

When all changes are made, the ceremony script will be returned to you for approval, and this process will happen as many times as you need until the ceremony script is just what you want.

The ceremony will be delivered on your chosen date.

Payment is usually requested by the date of delivery, although it will be included with a funeral director's final invoice or in a payment plan for a wedding/vow renewal.

*A Booking Fee for a larger ceremony is exactly that and therefore a non-refundable payment, as the ceremony date is secured just for you and I will then remove it from my calendar as an available date.

For all ceremonies, except funerals, you will receive a contract from me, alongside a booking form, which will state all ceremony date/venue details, payment deadlines, script drafting and refining process, T's & C's, cost and cancellation/postponement policies.
